Blogging, Revisisted

This blog is on life support.

I post so damn infrequently it hardly seems worth keeping up with it… so Kevork this baby, or give it to the pads for a little resuscitation?

I’ll think about it. And I’ll think about it out loud, as it were, because that’s one point of a blog, innit?

I started this as a way to develop a writing habit, and it worked, for awhile. And then it stopped working and all I got out of myself was sporadic pictures of pizza, which as an aside is some damn good pizza, but doesn’t help me do anything creative.

So: Action Items!

1. Create a new tumblelog , just for pizza… (pizzabyjohnandlisa.tumblr.com) follow it, ‘cause you know you like pictures of food. And if you ask nicely enough you can eat some of it too.

2. Refocus on writing for the blog. And I’ll aim for something constructive once a week.

So look for a pizza in once place and a paragraph in the other, starting next week.

Age Old

The tree waves to me, its spindly arms beckoning. It tells me:

I’m lonely; I’m naked; I’m cold. I’m dying. Look - my red dress in tatters at my feet. Look - my body, scarred, ravaged by animals and disease.

The wind blows again and the tree shudders. It says:

I’m bored. My leaves are gone and my bark is marked and there are a thousand other trees.

It speaks again:

I’m dying. This is my last winter. No green summer dress. Bare forever, standing and rotting, while my friends stand in their greenery, the birds in their sturdy branches, twittering excitedly.

It falls silent. The wind blows a final time and the tree bows slightly as I walk away.

DON’T DO IT

DON’T DO IT

I met the Green Fairy in Montreal over the weekend.

I met the Green Fairy in Montreal over the weekend.

This is New York: wherever you go in the five boroughs, no matter how far, no matter the deer, crickets, and lice, you’ll always hear the dull roar of traffic in your peripheral, the cacophony of burning gas and squealing rubber that drowns everything out.
